Maxxis Nationals
Zach earned an invite to the Maxxis Nationals from finishing in the top 3 at the Williamston Indoor Summer Nationals.
This past weekend we went to Neeses, South Carolina to race at Thunder Valley Raceway and compete in the Maxxis Nationals. There we would be competing in Blue Plate and JR Sportsman Champ.
On Saturday the field would consist of 30 qualifiers. In Champ Zach qualified 13th and in Blue lite Zach would clock in with the 10th fastest time.
Starting 13th in Champ, Zach would race his way to 7th where he would finish. In blue lite Zach started 10th and quickly made his way into the top 5. It would be there where Zach would find trouble. One of the leaders spun and Zach was collected in the crash. Damaging the nose of the kart he would restart at the tail end of the field. There he would race to finish in the 9th position.
On Sunday Zach would be competing in Blue Heavy. In practice Zach was able to show lots of speed. Knowing on this day they would only take the top 20 qualifiers it was crucial to find speed. Once the qualifying completed Zach would wind up in 8th position. From that starting position it was not long that we began to move to the front. Once in the top 5 we would get pushed up and fall back to 11th. Zach moved his way back to the front picking off karts one at a time. Zach would find himself a sraight-a-way behind leaders with 5 laps to go. Using the draft he would be able to get to the leaders ad ran out of laps. However we were proud of our 4th place finish.
